GREEN ROOF ALERT in Chicago’s Theatre District! Joffrey Tower!

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on September 26, 2009

When walking on State Street, in downtown Chicago, I have seen the trees that peek above the roof line of Joffrey Tower, located at 151 N State Street.  At the base of the condo building, formally known as MoMo, is retail space and the home of the Joffrey Ballet.  Above the base is a major opening that flows straight through Joffrey Tower and as you can see from the picture below, an awesome green roof.

Update! My move to the @properties team.

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on September 25, 2009

If you’ve taken a look at the “About” page here at ChicagoismynewBlog! you probably read that I work at Belgravia Group’s townhome community, Union Row Townhomes.  As an update, and of course as some nice self promotion, I have decided to join the @properties sales team at their Lincoln Park office, located at 1586 N. Clybourn Avenue.

I would like to start by saying that I have thoroughly enjoyed working on the Belgravia Group team for the past year and I know they’re looking forward to me selling some Belgravia homes to my future clients.  On this new venture in my life of real estate, I am so excited to join the @properties team and I can’t wait to sell my first home…then my first million in sales!  If you or any of your friends/colleagues/family/you get the point, are looking to purchase a home or sell a current home, please don’t hesitate to contact me!

Developer Sean Conlon proposes a 7 story River West apartment building!

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on September 24, 2009

Thanks again to Crain’s Chicago for this article about developer and real estate veteran Sean Conlon’s proposed apartment building in Chicago’s River West neighborhood, located at 1100 W. Grand Avenue.  This location used to house a gas station but after purchasing the property for $1.9M, the existing building and underground gas tanks have been removed.  This proposed rental building will include 4,000 square feet of ground floor retail and 59 parking spaces.  The amount of apartments is unknown at this point.

I’m pretty excited about this proposed building, not only because I live a couple blocks away but I truely believe this neighborhood has so much potential and Mr. Conlon is helping it reach that potential.  I would love to see a contemporary building with floor to ceiling windows which will take advantage of the amazing skyline view.

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on September 21, 2009

Check out the full profile of the O’Hare green roof by clicking HERE!  Thank you to Green Roofs for Healthy Cities for the profile.

This green roof is located on top of Building 607, the New South Vault Building at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport.  The measures in at 17,800 square feet and has a six-inch deep layer of growing medium with native grasses planted.  One of the many benefits of installing a green roof is that during the day, workers have already noticed a cooling effect when working in the building compared to conventional roofed buildings.

514 luxury apartments proposed for Crowne Plaza parking lot in the West Loop

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on September 5, 2009

At a time when barely anything is being proposed in Chicago, let alone the West Loop, this article coming from Gazette Chicago speaks about a 514 luxury apartment development planned for Crowne Plaza’sparking lot.  Included in the development, proposed by Skokie developer F&F Realty, Ltd., is 10,000 square feet of retail space fronting Halsted Street.  The parking lot is located at the Southeast corner of Halsted and Madison Streets.

This parking lot was just begging for something of this magnitude for such a long time.  Now, lets all say a prayer that the design will be good.
