GREEN ROOF ALERT! Who needs the suburbs when you have your yard in Printers Row?

Posted by ChicagoismynewBlog! on August 16, 2009

Check out this article from MetropolisMag.com!  Chicago designer Kevin Fox made the $60K investment to plant a major lawn on top of the building he occupies in Chicago’s Printers Row neighborhood.  Who needs that single family home out in the burbs when you can have a yard in downtown Chicago?  I’d get a kick out of watching him mow the yard.  Thank you to MetropolisMag.com for the story and pictures!

  1. Right by the office and I definitely don’t get to see this view from the street very often!

This green roof I really like–instead of just plants, it’s a use-able lawn. Who gets that in the south loop? Unique!

I totally agree with you. Of course I’m in favor of the green roofs that are JUST plants but this is exactly the kind of green roof I would want to have. Something I can walk on and actually use…with some plants to the sides.
